As a Peace Corps Trainee in Zambia, my role will likely center around working with local communities to promote sustainable practices, conservation, and climate resilience. I might help establish tree nurseries, teach agroforestry techniques, or work on sustainable farming methods to improve soil health and crop yields. The next two years will be a mix of structured projects and adapting to the needs of my community. Some days, I might be connecting with local organization, while others, I could be biking to a nearby village to assist with a reforestation project. There’s a lot of fluidity in what my service will look like, but at its core, it’s about learning, building relationships, and working alongside the community to create long-term environmental solutions.
